PORTS AND HARRBORS

Maritime and Inland Port Services:

Port Management – operations, administration, financial and upgrading of Port.  Tasks included design and implementation of management, preparation of procedures manuals, development and implementation of recommendations for the selection and acquisition of cargo handling equipment, the selection and training of personnel, and rates and tariffs studies.

Master Plan to guide the growth of a Ferry System between three islands over a twenty year period.  Prepared cargo and passenger traffic forecasts, determined the requirements of equipment and facilities (vessels, terminals, docking structures).  A master plan was completed for each terminal as well as a procurement program for vessel acquisition.  A detailed economic analysis was made to evaluate the impact of the recommended improvements on the rates and charges for ferry services.

Feasibility Study – of a new facility for unloading deep-water ore carriers, an associated terminal for water-borne lumber, piers for general cargo, an ore pier, waterfront warehouses, a terminal railroad, land allocation for water based and water related industry, the presence of a steamship agency, and stevedoring operations.  In addition, a feasibility study on charges for dockage at the railroad pier in the port area was included.

James C. Buckley, Inc., established in 1964 as a leader in maritime and inland port services, merged with AIG, expanding AIG’s services to include the Port area.  Port services provided include port management, technical assistance to aid port operators, economic and technical feasibility studies for the development or expansion of water served terminal facilities, master planning of ports and harbors for efficient handling of traffic, and port facility design and construction supervision.  AIG is able to assist, implement and train personnel in improved methods of operation and managing port facilities as well.
